The collection of newspaper scrap-books was started by Ann Dent in September 1965, subsequently gifted by her to the Society in 1987. The collection has since been added to by Pat Ashworth, the late Doris Page, the late Bill Beale and currently by Audrey Blakiston.

Sally Helm kindly indexed the collection (now approaching thirty books), and her manuscript notes are in the process of being digitalised by Maidie Chattaway, Diana Marchant and Ros Clements. The collection (MSS277), will be added to, therefore, from time to time.

The collection is not generally available for inspection, other than when open exhibitions are held locally, but requests to this website for sight of some articles will be accommodated if practical.

The Society gratefully acknowledges the original newspaper sources as indicated in the respective scrapbook. The collection is a companion to Normandy in the Press (MSS113) and in places runs parallel with it.
