At 8 pm on Tuesday the 21st of September we shall meet
as usual in the small hall of the Normandy Village Hall to welcome Andrew
Robertshaw, Curator of the Aldershot Army Museum, who will present
his illustrated talk "Ghosts on the Somme", a subject
matter that will have particular interest to so many readers at this particular
time of the year and certainly as the community of Normandy prepares for
Remembrance Sunday.
Whether you are a new member or a visitor for the evening you can be
assured of a warm welcome. It would come as no surprise to me for you
to meet at least one familiar face. Anyhow, all are welcome to any of
our meetings but on this occasion, and for this meeting only, each paid-up
member will be asked to contribute an additional £1. Children (if
accompanied with an adult), will still enjoy free admission. Admission
for non-members will be £2.50 per person.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 8pm but light refreshments are
available from about 7.45pm. This arrangement provides the opportunity
for members to meet and have a chat before introducing our speaker. Meetings
seldom go beyond 10pm
Although the membership year is halfway finished the subscription rates
at £3:00 for an individual and £7:50 for a family membership
remains good value for money to the end of the year. Subscriptions can
be paid at this meeting. There is no elective process or joining fee required
for new members
